What is a Secret Friend?
A Secret Friend is assigned each fall to a child at church. This program is a wonderful success and we think the adults have as much fun as the children do.
Some expectations for a Secret Friend:
Recognize any special occasions or achievements with cards or note (NO GIFTS). These would include birthdays (or half birthdays), holidays, church participation, school or community participation, honors, kind deeds and absences.
Be alert to the school calendar, newspaper articles, the church Visitor, etc. for any news about your child.
Visit the church school classrooms occasionally to see what the kids are doing.
Connect with the child, without revealing that you are their Secret Friend.
Pray.
Participate in a Secret Friend party in the spring so that you may reveal yourself to the special child that you have been watching.
Have fun!
