Our Mission and Vision

Our Mission

Melvin Village Community Church was organized October 16, 1837.  Affiliated with the world, National and State Council of Churches through the American Baptist Churches of Vermont/New Hampshire and ABC/USA, this congregation is autonomous in its local structure, shaping its own mission and ministries under the teachings of the bible and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Our Purpose

The purpose of this organization shall be the maintenance of the public worship of Almighty God; the maintenance of an adequate program of Christian Education; the development of Christian character; the furtherance of the religious, moral and social life of the community; and the maintenance of an active participation in the cause of Jesus Christ around the world.

Vision Statement (developed and approved in 2006)

The Melvin Village Community Church will:
          1.  continue to develop its deep commitment to Jesus Christ with excellence and genuine caring.

2.  continue its ministry to an aging population.

3.  continue its efforts to attract young families.

4.  continue to involve youth in all aspects of church.

5.  encourage meaningful small groups.

6.  focus on creative worship services.

7.  actively sustain our present leaders and help others to develop their spiritual gifts including leadership.

8.  reach out to all in our community and grow in Christian spirit and service.

“MAKING THE BEST BETTER”

Affirmation of Faith

WE BELIEVE IN GOD THE FATHER, infinite in wisdom, goodness and love;

And IN JESUS CHRIST, His Son, our Lord and Saviour, Who for us and our salvation lived and died and rose again, and lives forever.

And IN THE HOLY SPIRIT, who reveals the Truths of God to us, renewing, comforting, and inspiring our souls.

WE ARE UNITED in striving to know the will of God, as taught in the Holy Scriptures, and in our purpose to walk in the ways of the Lord, as they are made known to us.

WE HOLD IT TO BE the Mission of this Church, as a Christian Congregation, to proclaim the Gospel to all mankind, exalting the worship of the one true God, and laboring for the progress of knowledge, the promotion of justice, the reign of peace and the realization of human brotherhood.

DEPENDING AS DID OUR ANCESTORS upon the continued guidance of the Holy Spirit to lead us into all truth, we work and pray for the transformation of the world into the Kingdom of God, and we look with faith for the triumph of the righteousness and Life Everlasting.
